“How can a man be worse than a beast?”

After being trapped in the cursed town of Du Ciel for seven years, Isabelle’s life was only going to get worse. Because she is turning eighteen, which puts her in danger of being sent in the next Offering to the Beast, her father pushes her to marry without love to save herself. However, since Isabelle is poor, and the other four girls that are of age happen to be from very prestigious families, she believes she will be sent by default. This leaves her with one of two choices: give up her freedom and marry without love to save herself, or risk being sent into the depths of the Castle where a monstrous Beast lurks and an unknown fate awaits her.
But, what if the Beast was the least of her problems?

My name is Lizzie Sanders and I am far from normal. You see, I know ghosts and demons exist. How? Because I am the daughter of Sadie Sanders–mediator to the dead extraordinaire. However, that isn’t what makes me different. No, discovering I am a Shadow Seeker is what truly signifies my own fate in the supernatural world.

In one breath, my entire life was flipped upside down. At the heart of small-town America, Nicholasville, KY houses southern charm and deep-rooted secrets. It is here that I am forced to move after my parents inherited my great aunt’s farm.
This was supposed to be a change for us– a place where no one knew our past, but of course, this town is haunted with its own mysteries yet to be revealed. The true enigma being the secrets plaguing Crow Haven– and the family it protects.
Just when I thought I could handle the insane world I lived in, everything changed.

He happened.
Ace Creed.

He might be drool-worthy, but he is insufferable with his moody attitude and demanding ways. Thankfully, I have his sister, Maylee, on my side to help me deal with Ace.

As it turns out, though, Ace’s attitude is the least of my troubles.

Now, demons are attacking innocent people in town and coming straight for me. With the help of Ace and Crow Haven, I must uncover a way to rid our town of the demons and save myself.

Only, I have no idea what is more terrifying: the demons after me or the guy stealing my heart.

My life would never be the same.

I had escaped demons and found the answer to all of my supernatural problems…or so I thought.
Over the last year, I thought I had learned everything I needed to survive in their world.

The Crows.
Especially, Ace.

The undeniably breathtaking boy who had stolen my heart and opened my eyes to an entirely new type of being. One in which I was constantly being threatened and sought after by supernatural forces.
Everything about our relationship and my new world is complicated.

Honestly, it is downright deadly.

With the arrival of a new magical family in town, an entirely new set of problems just smacked me right in the face.
A witch wants to end me as a Shadow Seeker and is trying every trick in her spell book.

Now, with the help of the Crows and The Crow Haven Council, I must expel a threat that may just end it all for me once and for all.

Then Kanaahn finds five dragon eggs in a cave outside town. In one fateful hatching, these young vigilantes become the fabled Khaleeshir—humans bonded to dragons and entrusted with great magical abilities, guardians of man and dragon alike. They are also harbouring the most-hunted creatures in the entire country of Altimara.

The five friends must travel across a vast desert, train with a hidden dragon council, and delve into ancient magic to learn their destiny and prepare to face the greatest threat to the continent of Enayra in a thousand years: Tenebrae, the human-despising black dragon who perfected the forbidden Blood Magic. No one can be trusted. Every choice they make is a strain on their already endangered friendship. The further they dig, the closer they get to losing each other.

Some relationships you can’t put off repairing without paying a steep price.

For fans of STORM AND FURY and MORTAL INSTRUMENTS. The Ascended Guardians series is a supernatural thrill-ride that never lets up.

It’s been over ten years since fifteen-year-old Zoey Taylor wandered away from her family home in the middle of the night. Or so she’s been told, repeatedly, by her mother—but the only thing Zoey knows for sure is that when her older brother, Corinth, found her in the woods, safe and unharmed, she returned with a crippling fear of the dark and no other memories from those lost days—except strange flashes of sharp teeth and red-flaming hair.

Since that time, she’s become a star pupil and is on track to graduate early … if and that’s a big IF her overprotective family doesn’t get in the way of her dreams first.

But when one of the wealthiest, enigmatic philanthropists on the planet—Gabriel Stanton—shows up on her doorstep on Thanksgiving Day, and reveals the truth about what really happened to her all those years ago, it completely shatters her perception of the world.

And the story isn’t anything like what she’s been told.

Misty Hayes is back with a new spin-off series! If you haven’t read The Blood Dagger series yet… then what are you waiting for? Go and fetch those books first before picking up Shield & Shade.

If you are familiar with The Blood Dagger books, you’ll be happy to witness the return of all our favorite characters, plus a few more new additions. Cor’s little sister Zoey has grown older and has her own POV chapters—which were absolutely great. I love her. I can’t wait to see where her story will go.

Misty Hayes has such a talent with creating wholly different types of characters—good, shades of gray, and evil— I love all of them.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with Shield & Shade, since certain things had changed in the events of The Blood Dagger series, but as you can see I can’t express exactly how much I adore this book without going full fangirl.

EVERYTHING LUNA’S EVER KNOWN HAS BEEN A LIE.

Sixteen-year-old Luna Redwood was born into a world of conformity and lives a life of scarcity—thanks to a ruling that requires mandatory eye scans to determine social status. But when her mother sells her back to the government, everything tilts on its head.

With nowhere to run, and now the property of the establishment, she’s forced to transfer to a different universe where all her life memories will be lost. Determined to hold onto the only thing she has left—her identity— Luna fights them at every turn.

Now she must learn to navigate a new, seemingly perfect world that hides a dark secret while trying to hide a secret of her own. And if the government finds out what she’s been hiding, she might end up dead.

Her only hope of escape? Putting her trust in a mysterious boy she barely knows. One who, if she’s not careful, may betray her in the end.

Cage of Glass isn’t a bad book. It just didn’t ‘wow’ me or give me any particular strong feelings one way or another.

There were some things that made the story stand out from similar books in its genre. The main character was a little frustrating with some of her obviously disastrous choices but I guess for plot reasons they were necessary.

I didn’t feel any connection to the characters and I’m not very keen on continuing the series.

She was supposed to be gifted with unparalleled beauty.

Instead, she was given superhuman strength.

Chiara and her twin brother each received a blessing at birth. Thanks to a mistake, she was saddled with extraordinary strength. Certain that men couldn’t desire a girl who could lift a horse with one hand, she vowed to keep her power a secret. As a petite girl, she had no problem appearing to be ordinary. But when bandits start terrorizing her town and a handsome stranger accidentally learns of her secret, Chiara finds herself facing the very crisis she’s been trying to avoid.

Aya Ling remains one of my favorite authors.

Her writing is both imaginative and fun. She takes typical fantasy tropes and ideas, making them feel completely new every time she puts words to page. I hope the wait isn’t long for the next book because I need to see what happens next for Chiara and the prince.

Perfect new series for fantasy fans young and old alike.

The fae of the Night Court are desperately searching for a new monarch to crown before the Court collapses.

I couldn’t care less.

I’ve done everything I can to bury my fae blood and embrace my human half. That changes when some fae nobles show up on my doorstep and announce that I’m the next Queen of the Night Court.

Becoming an unwilling fae queen? Check. Inheriting a terrible mess? Double check.

The Court is almost bankrupt, my citizens’ favorite hobby is backstabbing one another, and I don’t know who I can trust since someone keeps trying to assassinate me.

Speaking of assassins, I get introduced to the best in the business—a fae lord nicknamed the Wraith. His deadly profession means he fears no one. The only reason he doesn’t kill me on the spot is he’s also a member of the Night Court and the Court’s magic protects me. But that doesn’t prevent him from trading verbal barbs with me whenever we meet.

And if cat herding all these uncooperative fae and chatting with assassins wasn’t enough, I’m required to get married as part of some archaic Court law. This “queen” gig is the worst!

Supposedly I can choose anyone to marry, but with all the infighting I need someone who is neutral and won’t provoke more political power struggles.

So, why do I keep thinking of a certain assassin?

K.M. Shea has a special place in my heart and I will always be there for her new releases because I know she’ll have something worthwhile waiting for me.

Crown of Shadows is set in the same universe as the Hall of Blood and Mercy trilogy and I am so overjoyed that it is because there are limitless stories Shea can write within its boundaries. As much as I am the biggest simp for vampires, I think I’m going to love this series more. I’m counting down to the next book–which isn’t far away now.

Self-Promo – Denial: Post-Election Free Verse Poetry from the Ramblings of Trump Supporters and General Update

Self-Promo – Denial: Post-Election Free Verse Poetry from the Ramblings of Trump Supporters and General Update

Hi, everyone. *waves* This is different from the regular blog content. I apologize for that in advance. Today, I wanted to share a silly little book I’ve recently made.

Y’know about free verse poetry? Well, this is what the book is about—a collection of things Trump supporters have been saying since he lost the election but arranged like *~*poetry*~* It’s humorous to me, maybe I have a bad sense of humor though.

Before anyone gets mad, I think even republicans might find it a teensy bit amusing. Maybe not Facebook aunties (shhh).

Listen, I have cats to feed. They’re very particular.

Eventually, I’ll have my vampire book out–but gag poetry will have to work for now.

Available in ebook format for 99c and paperback for $6 (I’ll update this post when I receive my copy). Free with Kindle Unlimited.

The election may be over but the arguments and disagreements are not. Here is a collection of things Trump supporters have been saying presented in a free style poetry format. It’s a perfect, but a little too amusing, example of how some Americans are feeling at present time.

Great gag gift for Democrats (come on, a dramatic reading would be so fun) but might anger (or amuse, who knows?) your Republican folks. It might even be something you can show your grandchildren someday when asked about 2020 politics.

General Update Notes:

I’m trying to catch up on my reading, so expect some new reviews soon. Two for-review books are on my list right now. I’m still open for book spotlights, release day posts, etc. I don’t have anything scheduled as far as I can remember as of this posting. If I missed something from you, such as a request, you can always resend.
