When her people’s underground cave system is attacked, Hemera is thrust above ground into a dangerous world where the sun’s rays can kill in seconds and enemies are tracking her every move.
The farther she travels, the more she discovers about her powers. Hemera comes to learn that her very existence is a threat in the war brewing between humans and Halves.
Should she disappear into the shadows to protect the people she cares about most, or embrace the strength she has spent a lifetime suppressing? Her choices will threaten the survival of the world as she knows it.

A soldier is summoned to the North Pole, days before the year changes, told to fix the great Clock for a celebration. He has no idea what to do.
A girl, hunted for the crime of being born, almost dies out on the ice. She is rescued by the last polar bear left alive.
A library waits for them both, a library built over a span of a hundred years, forgotten in the basement of an ice shack.
The world hasn’t known hunger or sickness in hundreds of years. It has also forgotten love and beauty.
The year is 2525.
At 900 years old, Nissa is finally ready to follow her mother’s path and become the best Fairy Godmother she can. She’s not thrilled when her first assignment turns out to be a teenage human girl with self-esteem issues, but she knows she has to start somewhere. Her assignment has dealt with bullies since her freshman year and they haven’t let up. If Nissa can’t help her regain her self-confidence her future is bleak.

To complicate matters Nissa experiences all the signs that she’s met the being fated for her. This impossibility distracts her from her purpose. After all, fairies and humans aren’t meant for each other. How can her heart believe otherwise? Can Nissa successfully complete her first assignment as a Fairy Godmother? Will the fates allow Nissa and Levi to be together? And even if they do, will Levi believe Nissa once she reveals the truth?
The Kingmaker. Seize the Crown. Born to Rule

“I am sixteen years old and I will die on the morning of my seventeenth birthday. As tradition dictates, I will be sacrificed and my life’s blood will determine which one of my two brothers will be King. My blood will kill one and crown one. My name is Everleigh and I am the Kingmaker.”

The legend of the Kingmaker goes back millions of years. Kingmakers are special; their magic chooses the rightful King of the Realm and they all die on their seventeenth birthday.

Except this one.

Saved from the inevitable, Everleigh learns that she is the Kingmaker who will live, the Kingmaker who will rule, the Kingmaker who will be Queen.

But not everyone agrees with an age-old prophecy that says a girl will rule the Realm and soon Everleigh is locked in a deadly battle for the throne.

Can she escape her blood-thirsty enemies and live long enough to be crowned Queen?

The Kingmaker is a magical young adult fantasy, packed with fantastical twists, heart-stopping action and fabulously feisty females.

Seize the Crown

Seize the Crown follows Everleigh on her quest for revenge, and the throne, as she battles against her brother and his murderous tyranny.

Millard’s deadly ambition sees him sit on the throne that should rightfully be hers. Everleigh is determined to avenge her loved ones and seize the crown and if a fight is what it takes to rule, she will fight or die trying, in this fantastic follow up to The Kingmaker.

Born to Rule

Maddeningly, the crown still eludes Everleigh as we begin the breath-taking third instalment of The Kingmaker Series.

With Millard on the run and attacks being made ‘in the name of the King’, Everleigh must put a stop to her brother before her Kingdom is in ruins and if, as Queen, she must slay her own sibling, she will gladly do it.
Danger lurks in Darrenberg forest …

She has no hope of escaping or being rescued – she told no one where she was going. Who will warn the region of Darrenberg, and her family, about the attack that’s coming?
Sometimes magic comes to those who least expect it…

EXCERPT:

As much as I liked to pretend, I wasn’t completely and totally intrigued by the thought of new people moving here; I couldn’t control myself. I tried to convince myself it was all because of my mom; but as I stood there, whispering the words, I knew there was no fooling myself.

“Henley, don’t you know it’s not polite to stare?” she asked, but her own hypocritical words hung heavy in the air as she raced to join me in the living room again.

Standing next to me, we watched intently as the driver’s side door opened. With large eyes, we strained to get a glimpse of who would be our new neighbor. To our surprise, the rest of the car doors opened and the family emerged.

A tall man with dark hair closed the driver’s side door as a woman emerged from the passenger’s side. The back two doors opened and three teens, roughly around my age, tumbled out. A girl with short, dark hair and legs-for-days gave the house a disgusted look. A boy who seemed to be uninterested in it all, stared down into his phone, which he held tightly in his grip. Finally, a tall boy with the same dark hair stood behind the rest of his family. With his hands tucked deep into his jeans pockets, he seemed reluctant to move any closer to the house.

“Well, they look like a nice family,” my mom said. I turned to look at her and I could see the eagerness twinkling in her baby blues to get to her phone and be the first one to spill the news that the new neighbors had arrived.

It was almost like they had landed in a spaceship and were from outer space!

“Maybe,” I grumbled, still unsure about these people.

Suddenly, the boy, standing alone behind his family, turned and caught me snooping on them. Our eyes connected for a brief moment before he gave me an angry snarl that had me stumbling backward.

What was that?

“I need to go call Susan,” my mom stated, as she rushed to the kitchen to retrieve her phone.

I dared to look back out the window again; and when I did, the entire family was gone.

Just disappeared, like they had never been standing there in the first place.

I blinked, just to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. When I looked again, the SUV was still parked along the curb, but the family was gone.

Lights glowed from inside  the house.

“That’s weird,” I said aloud to myself. How did they have time to get inside and turn on the lights? I literally just turned around for a second.

I shook my head, unsure of what to think. Peeking out of the window again, something in the far, second-floor window caught my attention. As my gaze moved up, I felt my cheeks burn and nervous energy flow through me. As my gaze finally landed on the window, I caught a pair of red eyes staring back at me. It was the same boy who had given me the nasty stare just moments before.

I closed the curtains and took a step back. My heart was racing so fast, I feared it might jump right out of my chest. With labored breathing, I slowly walked into the kitchen where my mom was blabbing the news to anyone who would listen.

The crippled god of metallurgy, fire, and alchemy has many names and many faces—sometimes Hephaestus, Ptah, or Vulcan. He changes to suit his needs. And just like his names, his creations have gone through countless revisions. This time, he’s finally onto something—his Automata have turned the heads of other gods. They’ve noticed their pre-programmed potential. There’s a reason Vulcan didn’t scrap the Automata—a reason he left them in the care of humans all this time. They were just the beta testers for his most intricate windup toy yet…

Vulcan’s ancient Automata find their purpose rebooted in the second installment of the CIRCO DEL HERRERO/THE BLACKSMITH’S CIRCUS series. Their immortal human Masters will drop like flies—superfluous in the next round as the gods shuffle in a new deck of fateful cards. The Masters can choose how and when, but they will all die to free the Automata of their earthly chains. Odys and his Automaton, Maud, struggle to protect his twin sister from the plotting of his dual-bodied adversaries. But his sister, Odissa, finds herself a willing participant in The Blacksmith’s latest exhibition—could she be the missing cog to the god’s tightly wound machine all along?

The capital-A Automatons of Greco-Roman myth aren’t clockwork. Their design is much more divine. They’re more intricate than robots or androids or anything else mortal humans could invent. Their windup keys are their human Masters. They aren’t mindless; they have infinite storage space. And, because they have more than one form, they’re more versatile and portable than, say, your cell phone—and much more useful too. The only thing these god-forged beings share in common with those lowercase-A automatons is their pre-programmed existence. They have a function—a function their creator put into place—a function that was questionable from the start…

Odys (no, not short for Odysseus, thank you) finds his hermetic lifestyle falling apart after a stranger commits suicide to free his soul-attached Automaton slave. The humanoid Automaton uses Odys’s soul to “reactivate” herself. Odys must learn to accept that the female Automaton is an extension of his body—that they are the same person—and that her creator-god is forging a new purpose for all with Automatons…

The novel calls itself a “Prose Epic,” but is otherwise a purposeful implosion of literary clichés and gimmicks: A Narrator and an Editor (named Gabbler) frame the novel. Gabbler’s pompous commentary (as footnotes) on the nameless Narrator’s story grounds the novel in reality. Gabbler is a stereotypical academic who likes the story only for its so-called “literary” qualities, but otherwise contradicts the Narrator’s claim that the story is true.

THE AUTOMATION is a this-world fantasy that reboots mythical characters and alchemical concepts. Its ideal place would be on the same bookshelf as Wilson’s ALIF THE UNSEEN and Gaiman’s AMERICAN GODS—though it wouldn’t mind bookending Homer, Virgil, and Milton, to be specific.

The first vampire.
The last Nephilim.
The end of a saga.

The epic battle between angel and vampire begins in this third installment in the Blood Dagger series. Ever since his meeting with a group of all-powerful angels calling themselves the Grigori went awry, things aren’t looking up for Corinth Taylor or for his best friend, Larna Collins. After Corinth was almost stabbed to death, Alastair Iszler, Corinth’s brother-in-arms, heroically stepped in to save Corinth’s life—thereby sacrificing his own in the process.

Larna, still reeling after losing the love of her life, has only one mission in mind: kill the vampire who tortured Corinth. Sarah. But things aren’t so cut and dry anymore when friends turn into enemies and enemies turn into friends. Trusting Gabriel Stanton, the leader of one of the most powerful vampire clans in the world, might just be enough to cause his downfall by her hands. Especially since she has the worst kind of history with him—the killing-your-father kind.

Will Corinth make it through his transition to become a vampire? Will the Grigori’s plan at world domination come into fruition? Can they pull together in time to stop the threat?

Excuse me as I wipe my runny nose and blink away the tears. I’m very emotional right now coming straight from finishing the last page.

This book . . . was EVERYTHING.

Never have I read a finale so perfect, so satisfying. It went beyond my expectations, wrapping up so nicely and still leaving room for more (a spin-off is coming–heavens, yeees).

Tree of Souls was such a roller coaster of feelings. Love, loss, faith, despair. So brilliantly beautiful. I would die for these characters–Larna, Corinth, Vinson, Leo.. I just love them all.

Read this series if you haven’t. It’s my all time favorite.

Four crowns to take. One curse to break.

When Kiki receives a strange note and discovers a secret about her past that impacts her future, she’s thrown into another realm that’s nothing like her life as a failed demon slayer in New York City. While seeking counsel to understand why she suddenly has wings, she meets a guy who looks like a Viking and looks at her in a way that makes her all fluttery inside.

Soren spends too much time at the tile table and infuriating the king’s guards—evidenced by the ink tainting his skin. He gave up fighting back a long time ago and is just trying to survive. The strange thing is, he can’t help but want to take flight and when he meets a beautiful stranger it’s like something inside is trying to beat its way out.

In the Northlands, trust is a foreign concept. The people are divided by fear and want, everyone is broken or does the breaking, and the ashpit consumes the rest. Desperate to help the people, Kiki and Soren find common ground to overthrow the false king and soon discover their destinies are wound tightly together.

However, with war looming, time isn’t on their side. It’s a battle Kiki and Soren can’t win on their own, but could divide them forever, and forever is what they each secretly want.

It was the cover that caught my attention first but the story and characters are making me stay along for the ride.

If you love fae books, you’ll definitely want to read this one. I’m always looking for a variety of fae stories in particular because after vampires, they’re my second favorite supernatural beings to read about. Granted, it’s usually a hit or miss because I tend to be picky. Fae of the North is a hit with me and it’s something I’d a hundred percent recommend.

I hope the bearmen make more appearances because I am intrigued.

EDIT:
[Adding a review because I just finished reading this book.]

Now this is a perfect example of a well-written, entertaining short story. I usually don’t read a lot of short stories because I always want more than what’s given and generally there’s no continuations to look forward to.

J.R. Snyder offers something here that will be appealing to many readers of fantasy. I adored it and will be waiting to see what’s next in this series.

Plus isn’t the cover the cutest thing ever?
